Clothing Alterations
Alterations - Levels 1–4
Clothing Alterations Courses are for the Individuals who wish to embark on a career in Alterations, to obtain a job as an Alterations Hand, Start their own Business or for those who would like to learn How to Alter their own Clothing and for their Family.
There are Four Levels to complete.
Level 1
Pant, Jeans and Skirt Hems
Zippers – Invisible, Lap, Fly
Mending
Time Management
Level 2
Take in and Let out Side Seams
Fitting Garments with correct fitting procedures
Jackets
Sleeve length adjustments – with lining
- with various Plackets
- no lining options
- cuffs or splits
Jacket Hem adjustments
Jacket restyling and re shaping – Taking in and Letting out
Level 3 & 4
This level allows you alter the many variations encountered with Formal wear and Bridal wear Alterations.
- From take in and let out side seams with and without Boning
- Working with lace and beading
- Multiple layers of delicate Fabrics
- Various seam applications and fabric Drapery
- More Complex Solutions to Altering Formal wear
Course Duration:
10 weeks, 2hrs per class
*Arrangements can be made to complete this course in a week over 3 days
Times:
Thurs 9.30am-12.30pm
(other times will be added on demand)
Cost:
$550 Per level
(Full course can be completed over four weeks x 3 days at a cost of $1950)
Materials Required:
Each person will be instructed to bring materials for each lesson according to their level. Each level will require a variety of Second Hand or Old Clothing to practice various techniques
Clothing Alterations “As You Go”
The Clothing Alteration course is for Individuals who cannot Commit to a long term class and would like to Alter their own Garments and learn New Skills at the same time.
From basic Hems to Bridal and Formal wear.
You must have basic sewing knowledge and know how to use a Domestic Machine or Industrial Sewing Machine.
Course Duration:
1 or 2 hrs per lesson
Times:
Tues 1.30-3.30, Thursday 9.30-11.30,
or 1-30- 3.30
Cost:
$27.50 per hr (gst inclusive)
