About us
The Academy of Dressmakers Pty Ltd, was founded in 2008 to address the Australian Fashion Industry’s shortage of Machinists, Patternmakers, Alteration Hands and Dressmakers.
With the shift of bulk clothing production to off shore companies, Australian Fashion Designers now need skilled workers to construct their samples for production and for altering a variety of clothing purchased from stores.
All teachers who tutor at the Academy of Dressmakers are Fashion Industry experienced and are able to pass on valuable industry knowledge and career advice.
Home Dressmakers find catering for individuals who still like to have garments ‘made to measure’ for that ‘special occasion’ offer additional earning opportunities.
The Academy of Dressmakers is designed for those who are looking for an alternative to the current vocational training with a more ‘Practical Application’ approach where the Focus is “Garment Construction”, with a small component of Design.
Our students may learn these skills for their own purpose and obtain a ‘Certificate of Completion’ with no assessments or may complete a Certificate II, III or IV in Clothing Production that is recognised by VETAB and other Fashion Design Institutes.
Our students are assessed ‘Practically’ ensuring that each student is confident in performing the actual task and obtaining the professional standard required from the Fashion Industry.
